Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 5, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the services offered by Remote Notary Connect. By scheduling an appointment or using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Services Provided

Remote Notary Connect provides remote online notary (RON) services performed by a commissioned Notary Public and Certified Remote Online Notary. Our services are limited to verifying identities and witnessing signatures. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or interpretation of document contents.

2. Eligibility

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a valid, government-issued photo ID
  • Have access to a device with a browser, camera, and audio/video capability
  • Be located in a jurisdiction that accepts remote online notarizations

3. Appointment Scheduling & Deposit

A deposit of $25.00 is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment. This deposit will be applied toward the total cost of the service upon completion. Your appointment is not confirmed until the deposit is received. Please review our Cancellation & No-Show Policy for details.

4. Identity Verification

You are required to present a valid, government-issued photo ID during your session. Remote Notary Connect reserves the right to refuse service if identity cannot be adequately verified or if there is any suspicion of fraud or misrepresentation.

5. Signer Responsibilities

  • You are signing the document willingly and without duress
  • The information you provide is true and accurate
  • You understand the general nature of the document being notarized
  • You are legally competent to sign the document

6. Disclaimer of Legal Advice

Remote Notary Connect is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Nothing in our communications or services constitutes legal counsel. You are encouraged to consult a licensed attorney for questions about the legal effect of any document.

7. Limitation of Liability

Remote Notary Connect's liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific notarial act in question. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use our services.

8. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of Illinois.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of our services following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Cancellation & No-Show Policy

Effective July 2026

Remote Notary Connect reserves dedicated time and resources for every scheduled appointment. The following policy outlines the terms governing cancellations, rescheduling, and missed sessions. Booking an appointment through any channel constitutes acceptance of these terms.

1. Scope of Agreement

This policy applies to all appointments booked through Remote Notary Connect, regardless of the method used to schedule or confirm, including our online booking system, email correspondence, phone calls, text messages, our mobile application, or direct messaging. Clients who book, confirm, or attend a session through any of these channels are bound by the terms outlined below.

2. Missed Appointment & Preparation Fee — $75

When a scheduled session cannot be completed for reasons outside Remote Notary Connect's control, a $75 fee applies. Circumstances giving rise to this fee include, without limitation:

  • The signer does not attend the scheduled session
  • The signer arrives more than 30 minutes past the scheduled start time
  • No acceptable, valid government-issued identification is presented
  • Required documents are missing, incomplete, or contain errors
  • The signer is unprepared, hesitant, or declines to proceed
  • The transaction cannot meet applicable legal or notarial requirements
  • The signer disconnects from the session and does not rejoin
  • Connectivity or device issues on the signer's end prevent completion

This fee reflects the time, staffing, platform resources, and administrative effort committed to the appointment regardless of outcome.

3. Late Cancellations and Reschedules

Any cancellation or reschedule request submitted less than three (3) hours before the scheduled appointment time is treated as a missed appointment and is subject to the same $75 fee. This provision applies equally to outright cancellations and to requests to move the appointment to a different time.

4. Refund Eligibility

Services rendered by Remote Notary Connect are non-refundable once completed. This includes any notarization or notarial act that has been executed and finalized. Refunds are considered only for advance payments made toward services that have not yet been provided.

5. Refundable Circumstances

  • Appointment Cancellation: Advance payments — excluding the non-refundable deposit — are eligible for a refund when at least 24 hours' notice is provided.
  • Service Unavailability: If Remote Notary Connect is unable to complete the service due to an issue on our end, a full refund will be issued, including the deposit.

6. Determining Responsibility

Where an appointment cannot move forward due to a failure or error on the part of Remote Notary Connect, no fee will be assessed. Where the inability to proceed stems from the client's or signer's circumstances, the $75 fee applies as described above.

Remote Notary Connect retains sole discretion to determine whether a missed or incomplete appointment resulted from client-side or company-side factors.

How It Works

Accepted Forms of Identification

For your online notarization session, you must present one of the following valid, unexpired government-issued photo IDs. The identification must include both a photograph and signature.

  • Valid Driver's License or Non-Driver Identification Card Issued by a U.S. State, Territory, or Jurisdiction
  • U.S. Passport
  • Foreign Passport
  • USCIS

All identification must be current and unexpired at the time of your notarization session.

To ensure a smooth and successful session, please have the following ready before your appointment:

  • A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID
  • A laptop or desktop computer equipped with a working camera and microphone
  • A stable and reliable internet connection to support a secure video session
